cloacal … nepotism … absurdly broad and comically wrongheaded … a caricature … bizarro … thoroughgoing incoherence … oxymoron … classic Newspeak … Newspeak incarnate … grotesquely misrepresents … incorrectly claims … false characterization … almost comical upending of reality … Michelle Malkin … Ann Coulter … selects a narrow band of often unrepresentative facts, distorts their meaning, and simultaneously elides and ignores whole mountains of contravening evidence and broader context … an absurd and nakedly self-serving thing … complete with copious but meaningless footnotes … pseudo-academic veneer
Really.

“Pseudo-academic veneer” was the name of my first band.

I thought “Decentered Dreamgirl” was a pretty good single, too.

Thanks. Had it been available in any format other than cassingle, we might have had a hit on our hands.

“Pony Bites” was bitchin’, too.
“Pseudo-academic veneer”
Is it just me, or is that somehow redundant?

You could have a pseudo-academic career over a genuinely academic core. You hear cynical people arguing that’s how you get tenure.
Also, “cloacal” is the real champion, there.

Have you ever noticed that your head is cocked to the right and mine to the left? Should we pitch a show to CNN?

“Cockfire”?
“Crosscocks”?
“Sword Fight”?

Your suggestions are reminiscent of something that has already been done. If Eric’s head tilts to the right, I guess that makes him Trevino.
(Eric, did you tell me to stop comparing you to Trevino? Sorry.)

It’s a wonder that the blogosphere is so masculine. It really is.

Yes, chests. That’s it.

You’re mocking me because I added the illustration to the other post, aren’t you.

Of course the (lefty, academic) blogosphere is masculine. Fascists simply love that phallic imagery.

What is it with the misattributed comments on this blog? Right now I see several familiar comments from Jan. 9, 10, and 11 on a post from the 13th.
In response to this post, as a Southern Californian in exile, I would draw a distinction between a beautiful campus and a beautiful setting. The photo sorts with my memories of visiting Pomona ca. 1981 when in high school — that’s a serious chunk of Brutalism (and a serious tract of golf-course green) weighing down your mountain vistas.

Hmm, I thought I was commenting on the Cal Poly post. Now I look like the rube.
