EotAW’s own Kathy Olmsted does an excellent job discussing her new book Real Enemies: Conspiracy Theories and American Democracy from World War I to 9/11 on Capital Public Radio’s program Insight for today (start listening at about 19:55). (And everyone knows why you don’t discuss the moon landing conspiracy.1)
So, please listen to Kathy. And buy her book. (Again. Because you bought it once already, right?)

I’m not sure what’s the most common moon landing was a fake theory, but the one I heard was that the first landing was faked so that they could meet the “deadline” of having people on the moon before the end of the decade but that all subsequent landings were legitimate. They were close to being able to reach the moon in 1969, but not close enough. Looking up the chronology, I see that I should have asked about Apollo 12.

The comments at the Mythbusters link (from “Kidding” above) are awesome.

How do they explain Apollo X, which was the LOR test flight using both the LM and CM, and which came within a few thousand feet of a landing…was that faked as well?
Was Apollo VIII (the CM to lunar orbit and return mission) “real”?
