Maybe instead of bailing out things that are too big to fail we should arrange it so the set of things too big to fail is empty.

i think that there should be a prohibition on eric’s contributing to a thread titled “idle thought”. it looks like eric idle thoughts, which are different things.

‘aggle? wot dyer mean, ‘aggle?
wait; this is serious.
i just found out that thomas alva edison killed topsy the elephant.
electrocuted her, and filmed it too. there was some claim that she’d killed a trainer, but i’m pretty sure it was trumped up. and edison was trying to spread this propaganda that dc current was more dangerous, and so using dc current to electrocute anything he could get away with.
elephant-snuffer.
that fucker–now i really hate him.

Sorry, kb, you may want to avert your gaze around the 1:40-1:50 mark.

wtf–why am i recapitulating blogogony in this way?
i mean–my daughter calls me on the phone and says, “was edison’s middle name “alvo”?”, and i say, “no, alva”, and then she hangs up, and then i go check on wikipedia.
then i find out the awful truth about the elephant-killing bastard, and post it here.
and then it turns out you’ve already had this conversation in march? of this year?
too weird.
and no, i’m not averting my eyes. i’m not watching *any* of it.

No, most of it is quite good. The whole vid’s not about Topsy. And it’s narrated by a cat! Check it out. Just make sure to skip the Topsy bit, which is really upsetting.
